Whoa, the Corps has enlistment bonuses?

I thought only the Army did that! But, browsing around the about.com link I found from this forum, I came across this page:

Is this still valid? I have some bonus money coming, if it is...

And let's head something off at the pass right now: I'm not trying to be a greedy money-grubbing dirty guy. I just found this interesting. If this is still in effect, what do I do to, well, get it? I mean, I'm not gonna pass up 'free' money...

In any event, with me mere days away from shipping out, there might not be anything I can do. Anybody have any points? I'm looking through this year's MARADMINS but if anyone can give more info, I'm all ears...

According to this, all the 7000 series MOS-es (IE: What I chose) get money. I think. If I'm reading this right. Am I?

ya gotta check with yer recruiter. Bonuses come and bonuses go depending on the needs of the Corps. It all depends on the date on the MarAdmin. Some info of that nature is time sensitive in any case.

Some one else around here may have better info for ya. Hang tight and in the meantime see what yer recruiter says about it. He should've already told all of that if it applied to yer situation.

Bonuses have to be requested or brought up before your contract is writien up. If you don't ask your recruiter about it before you enlist then the possibility of you getting it after your contract is signed is near impossible to get. So before you re-enlist make sure to find out before you are eligible for any
"Free" money.

I was given a $3000 bonus for enlisting into a W-3 option. I was not given an MOS field at enlistment, and didn't know what I would be until the end of MCT. I could have been an engineer, comm guy, arty, and a few other things. I was sent to comm schoo. There were a few other people in my class that were on the same contract. It all just depends on what the recruiter can hook up for you. If you don't really have your heart set on any one job, and just want to be a Marine, then the reruiter can probably find a bobus for you. Talk to him/her, and see what can be done.
