FIRST LOOK: Bridge Company helping Tankers get where they need to go

A joint training exercise between Marines from Bridge Company, 2nd Marine Logistics Group and the 2nd Tank Battalion, 2nd Marine Division is proving they’re amphibious and that it’s oftentimes quicker to go over water than through it.
The exercise took place this morning at Engineer Point, Camp Lejeune.
Military officials hope that the exercise will instill confidence in the Improved Ribbon Bridge and employ it to ferry eight M1A1 Main Battle Tanks and one Retrieve Vehicle across a body of water. It also gives the Marines valuable practice deploying the bridge and familiarizing themselves with all moving parts necessary to employ the bridge in a combat environment successfully.
Bridge Co. Marines trucked sections of the bridge to Engineer Point and unloaded them into the water from the back of a MK-18 tactical vehicle. Tanks joined the exercise by driving onto the bridge.
