View Full Version : Idiot vs Air Force Fly-by

Even though this has nothing to do with the Marine Corps, it shows the common mentallity of our "fellow" citizens.

Luke AFB is west of Phoenix and is rapidly being surrounded by civilization that complains about the noise from the base and its planes, forgetting that it was there long before they were. A certain lieutenant colonel at Luke AFB deserves a big pat on the back. Apparently, an individual who lives somewhere near Luke AFB wrote the local paper complaining about a group of F-16s that disturbed his/her day at the mall.

When that individual read the response from a Luke AFB officer, it must Have stung quite a bit.

The complaint:
'Question of the day for Luke Air Force Base:

Whom do we thank for the morning air show? Last Wednesday, at precisely 9:11 A.M, a tight formation of four F-16 jets made a low pass over Arrowhead Mall, continuing west over Bell Road at approximately 500 feet. Imagine our good fortune! Do the

Tom Cruise-wannabes feel we need this wake-up call, or were they trying to impress the cashiers at Mervyns early bird special?

Any response would be appreciated.

The response:

Regarding 'A wake-up call from Luke's jets' On June 15, at precisely 9:12 a.m., a perfectly timed four- ship fly by of F-16s from the 63rd Fighter Squadronat Luke Air Force Base flew over the grave of Capt. Jeremy Fresques. Capt Fresques was an Air Force officer who was previously stationed at Luke Air Force Base and was killed in Iraq on May 30, Memorial Day.

At 9 a. m. on June 15, his family and friends gathered at Sunland Memorial Park in Sun City to mourn the loss of a husband, son and friend. Based on the letter writer's recount of the fly by, and because of the jet noise, I'm sure you didn't hear the 21-gun salute, the playing of taps, or my words to the widow and parents of Capt. Fresques as I gave them their son's flag on behalf of the President of the United States and all those veterans and servicemen and women who understand the sacrifices they have endured..

A four-ship fly by is a display of respect the Air Force gives to those who give their lives in defense of freedom. We are professional aviators and take our jobs seriously, and on June 15 what the letter writer witnessed was four officers lining up to pay their ultimate respects.

The letter writer asks, 'Whom do we thank for the morning air show? The 56th Fighter Wing will make the call for you, and forward your thanks to the widow and parents of Capt Fresques, and thank them for you, for it was in their honor that my pilots flew the most honorable formation of their lives.

Only 2 defining forces have ever offered to die for you....Jesus Christ and the American Soldier.
One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

Lt. Col. Grant L. Rosensteel, Jr.

That gets me all tingly with pride. And a big OOhh Rah to the Commander that wrote that response to the A-hole. I was stationed at MCAS Miramar and all of the idiots around there always complain about the noise but forget that the air base was there a whole lot longer than any of the houses around it now.

Living in Virginia Beach I hear of crap like this all the time. Some rich biotch will buy an expensive home in the flight path of the runway then complain about the jet noise. Some people are just plain STUPID.

That response was incredible! I think the sign at the gate of MCAS New River says it all..."Pardon our noise...It's the sound of freedom." It makes even this '11's chest swell with pride.

Hmmmm....well I never met a Navy DOC that did not have a big mouth...just like your ignorance on here. I have not been on here for a while but updated my profile just for you. As for your ignorance...I served proudly in the USMC from 1978-1981 with O Btry 4th Bn 10th Marines, serving as a 0811 in field artillery. I was stationed at Camp Lejune, N.C. from 1978-1981.

I also graduated from Parris Island, S.C. in 1978 in Septmeber, unlike the playground basic training you attended. Face it....no matter how much you try to portray yourself as a Marine or former Marine...in reality you were not. Just a plain old Sailor wanna be.:)

Finally big mouth...I retired a Captain 03E in the U.S. Army Reserve serving as a Chaplain. I served this country for 31 years faithfully.

I agree Doc that you need to cool it a bit,BUT as for you being a want a be I totally disagree. I don't care if Doc went to Navy boot camp when it came time for this silent hero to show up he was there. If you were ever on a field of battle and called Corpsman up you would know. Yes I know sometimes Doc getting a little excited don't you DARE ever not think that he isn't as good as you.. Just ask the Marines whos asses he saved risking his life. Semper Fi Doc in my eyes you and all other Corpsmen will always be my heros. Oh by the waybuckeyeblue I served 9 years in the Corps w/2 years in Nam so this isn't a REMF speaking or a wannta be hero, but just a Marine whos been there and done that. OK.....Lets be clear, one Marine won't fill out his profile, at all, and one Marine makes a smart-azz remark, where his name should be....GENTLEMEN....IF I AM INCORRECT IN MY OBSERVATIONS, PLEASE.....AT YOUR CONVENIENCE.....TELL ME IF I HAVE DONE EITHER OF YOU A DISSERVICE. I WILL POST AN OFFICIAL APOLOGY, AND LEAVE THIS WEBSITE......FOREVER!!......HOW ABOUT THAT, MODERATORS?????

Wow, this thread has gone sour fast. Just because someone doesn't fill out their profile doesn't mean that they are a poser. Doc can get a little out of hand, but he adds value to these discussions. I honor his service and so should every Marine.

In the Marine Corps we have a couple of places that are called "Boot Camp." Since you spent most of your military time in the Army, we Marines will forgive you for using the phrase "basic training." We all know that there is only one fighting force that has to attend Boot Camp.

We have an Air Guard Base here, and my house and workplace both lie in the runway's landing pattern. At work they come over the plant at about 300 feet. If I get a chance, whenever they come over I wave at em. Never get tired of watching them F-15s take off and land. SF

No apology need in my neck of the woods. We all go off at times and no one is perfect.

The Mods need to contact this guy buckeyeblue and inform im to comply with the rules or suffer the rath of God on this forum. If the Mods cannot muster up the nads to do it then the site owner sure should. This site has a set of rules and this Marine has posted 9 times on here and still hasn't fill out his profile.

You were right Doc.
