I've heard of it happening. Mainly I'm just concerned with doing them because I'm planning on going back in sometime soon and I want to take every opportunity I can to do as many MCIs as I can until then.

Thats cool. I go to Ashford University a very friendly military school online and i transferred 12 credits just from my MCIs.

Damn you lucked out man. I'm going to a Community College in suburban Chicago and from all the MCIs I did, they only gave me 6 credits for that. Definitely depends on the institution I guess.
