Marines stress safety for long MLK holiday weekend
Associated Press - January 15, 2009 4:15 AM ET
CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. (AP) - Marines at a North Carolina base will receive safety reminders for the federal holiday observance of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday.
A statement from Camp Lejeune said a winter safety fair will be held Thursday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the base.
The Marines said the fair wants to give Marines information about "operational risk management, emergency procedures, and off-duty safety with an emphasis on vehicle and motorcycle safety."
Events at the fair include a beer-goggle course to show Marines the effects of drinking alcohol.
