Fire Direction/control specialist?

I put down for my 2 MOS choices on my wishlist Infantry and Fire direction/control specialist. There was not much to choose from that i wanted. I really wanted infantry to try my luck at force recon and dident get it. I got my second choice. I cant seem to find much on this MOS. I was just trying to get info on it. Such as, What will my job be? where will my training be? Will i be like right there on the lines? I know not to much about it other than its an arty job.

You're pretty helpless, huh?

Your job is to man the FDC for an artillery battery. You receive fire mission requests from the forward observer, crunch numbers, and then send fire mission data to the gunline. Your MOS school is at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. The FDC follows the guns, so you are as much forward as the arty battery gets.

You are not gauranteed this MOS unless you are reserve. If you're active, you have a stronger chance of getting 0811.

I knew most of that just wanted some detail, thank you. I was guaranteed it.. at least they told me i was. Thats what they gave me in detail and said i would be doing.

I have a question brother. What was it like being a Marine and attending school at Berkeley? That had to be rough.
