Stateside/Overseas Deployment

In the end, i will be happy enough to earn my way to being a Marine. And along with that I will just go where I am told that I'm needed. I just have a question about the first deployment. Ive heard a few things about deployments from many people, but my question is can I request overseas as my first one? As in will I have a choice NOT to be stateside my first tour? Thanks in advance.

The good news is you can request to be stationed overseas when you're in mos school. The bad news is you might not get it. When I was in mos school, about half our class opted for overseas, but none of them got it- so don't get your hopes up. If you stay in long enough, you should be able to get stationed outside the U.S.

I got exactly what I asked for......................1) East Coast (Millington & Mayport for schools) 2) West Coast (El Toro) 3) Overseas (Iwakuni) and back to the West Coast until I got out (cause I knew somebody that knew somebody that knew something about it - LOL!)
