NANIH WAIYA, Miss. -- A portion of a highway in Winston County will be dedicated Friday in the name of a Marine from the area who died in Iraq.

A ceremony is planned for the dedication of Mississippi 393 as the "Cpl. Dustin Jerome Lee Memorial Highway."

Lee, who was 20 at the time of his death, died March 21, 2007, from wounds received while conducting combat operations in Falluja, Iraq.

Lee had been in the Marines since graduating from Quitman High School in 2004.

Lee was a K9 handler who worked to uncover clandestine bomb with a German Shepherd, Lex.

The dog also was injured in the attack and was adopted by the Marine's parents.

The ceremony will begin at 3 p.m. at Good Hope Baptist Church in the Nanih Waiya community.
