Looking for DI's serving at MCRD from 1985-1988, especially "A" Company. Would also like to hear from recruits who graduated from Platoon's 1058, 1059, 1060 from this time and how y'all are doing. I was the "Hammer" from 1985 to 1987 and Senior DI from 1987-1988. The best job I have ever been a part of. Loved the Marine Corps, still do, my son just finished his 5 year tour of the Corps, very proud of his service and part his units played in Iraq and Afghanistan. Semper Fi to all Devil

I'm reading all your posts and all of you just make me smile. There is no finer attitude than the one displayed by each of you. I wish I had known more about the Marine Corps growing up. I just love every one of you and THRIVE on knowing you'd kick a** in the blink of an eye. Thank you all for everything.

I don't give up. If I can't do it the old way, I'll find a new way. Sometimes you get lucky and find the adaptation was better than the old way. I'm Native American. Just give me a blanket, ammo and my old M1 and I'm ready to go, even at 69.

Hey, Marsha: My Dad died from war wound complications and TB he picked up at Guadalcanal in 1959. I was 15. I certainly got lost for a long time for I was his caretaker. I had no childhood so the wild streak and being on my own took over. But I learned a lot from him and my instinct as Native American. He was 34 when he passed. Looking for my grad book. Continuing the hunt. May you always have Peace within...... Thearle

Hey, Tom: When Dad first got out we lived in Pawtucket on Prospect Hill. He was a radio announcer at WPAW and did a live talent show and had his own little band that did the REAL country songs. They called him Tex and the talent show was called "Leave It To Youth." Eventually, the TB stopped all work and he wound up bed ridden. We became real close. I had dreamed of wear his dress blues but my mother threw away everything that was his. She wasn't a very nice person. I have to laugh because when we'd walk to church, Dad and I, you could count cadence. Must have looked funnier than heck--his long legs, my stubby. It was quite a work out. Got so I could walk faster than most could run. Semper Fi. You guys don't know what it means to be part of this for a guy like me whose totem is the Lone Wolf. Peace within.......Thearle

Quick ?, I want to be A United States Marine, can I make my own definitions of A United States Marine and obey them cause they could be what Make A United States Marine...... this is what motivates me is cause if I define A United States Marine, then I'll follow the traits that I have tied to the title United States Marine.??

Bring a positive attitude and an eagerness to learn and my Beloved Corps will create you into the Marine the Corps needs to strengthen the command structure and the Corps as a whole. This way is how the Corps has historically been and that way will keep the Corps the tip of the spear as the defenders of our country as well as the champions of those who are in need.

Looking for my old Senior Drill Instructor. Staff Sergeant Brown. Hotel Company Platoon 2055. MCRD 1997.

Dark Green Marine. Slim build. About 5'7. Does that sound like him? If so, he was our "transfer in" D.I. when I went through at MCRD in 1988.

Uh... I just did the numbers. 10 years as a D.I. ...I don't think it could have been him.
