Well I guess Garwood is out, no Hooters, no strip club & no motel. They do have draft & bottle beer, not sure what a wine cooler or unbrella drink are but dos'nt sound like a cowboy or logger drink. It is going to break all those cowgirls hearts to find they are no longer in the running. Oh well I'll do my best to help them get over it. Semper Fi !!!!

SGT. (Grim Reaper) L/CPL Lukens is requesting your help. I am looking for a Marine that I served with when we were with 2/9 back in 87-88,89. His rank was LCPL, Thomas,Jimmy (Z) was his name. Although I have served with many Marines and would like contact from any of them I am really interested in finding Jimmy Z.
I have served with Barracks in P.I., and Japan. After Jpn. I served with 1/4 WPNS Co. (boat Plt.).
I miss active marine duty despertly. It kills me to hear and see Marines hurt and dying in the streets of Iraq. Maybe I could have saved 1 or more lives, or, maybe none at all, I just desire to be there.

The three DIs that changed my life were all WWII veterans. Senior DI: GySgt Rumsfeld, Junior DI: SSgt Flynn, SSgt Johnson. Was one of the first groups to get the new brick Barracks; the old Q huts were still there and usable. The lessons learned from these GREAT MARINES saved my life more than once during VIETNAM (68-69).

My 3 DI's at Parris Island (Platoon 193, 1972) were SSGT Ralph Kincaid, Asst DI Sgt Watson, & Asst DI Sgt Hunt.
Kincaid was a burly SOB, mean, but fair. Watson was a wirey little bastard. Hunt was a poster Marine......6 ft, black, and more funny than mean, even when he tried to be mean.
I learned something from each of them. Lessons I still remember & use, today.

Still here at 87 years old waiting for my next call up to see my Iwo Platoon.

Semper Fi until I dieHello. My High School Principle was Kenneth Justice. He served with the Marines on Iwo Jima. He was the main reason I decided to join the Marines. I did get to visit Iwo Jima while my unit was headed for Japan in 1988. I was amazed at how hard it was to walk off the boat and get through that sand. Thank you for your great service.

If I remember correctly 1/8 was the 1st battalion of the 8th Marine Regiment. The 8th Marines is part of the 2nd Marine Division. The 2nd Mar Div was never sent to South VietNam.

However many Marines from the 2nd MarDiv were TAD to various units in RVN on occasion.

Willcorde, I know what ya mean. I get disgusted at the amount of belly-aching that occurs.
