Before I retired, I traveled a lot. On one trip to England, a fellow worker named Mike went with me. On the train from London to Grimsby, we began conversing with two other guys, and their names also were Tom and Mike. Tom was from Northern Ireland.
I asked him how the war had been affecting him.
He said: "Not at all. I've had the same job for 12 years, now."
I said: "That's pretty good . . . what do you do?"
Without a smile, he said: "I'm a tailgunner on a bread truck."
