Do you ever put a TOPIC CLOSED on any topic? I don't mean delete, either! Once a topic starts and is not deleted, is the topic ever closed?

In the year since leatherneck's rebirth..........We have only locked one thread, than reopened when the Member(who thread was about) became available, then was reopened..........We have not had any posts that needed locking........(except above mentioned one).

We try to keep an even flow in posting........

I won't say any names, but another site I visit, keeping up with current affairs, had a member leave, which started some heated questions and comments. I'm not against that, that is suppose to happen. I see a member with a comment, which is very true, on the board. I decide to agree, because the comment is so very true, and I find the thread with a "topic closed" on it! I figured that they must not allow a topic that makes them uncomfortable, to be allowed to continue! They were discussing and wondering why a member quit! One of the comments makes alot of sense! here was the comment: ............................................

Why don't a lot of Marines post here, or not as much anymore as they use to?

Including myself? (And I am not speaking for !!!!!!!!!!. Yet from what he has communicated to me it is why).

Because what this place has turned into, in my opinion.

We just find most of the posts not subjects that interest us like they used to.

So we decided to either leave or just look in once in a while and post when we feel like it.

Is that clear enough? .................................................. ..........

Well, it is clear enough to me, they must not get it!! I figured this site (Leatherneck) was run correctly as often as I come here. I'm even happier that you, thedrifter, confirmed I am right everytime I tell someone "this is the place to be"! (damn, sounds like I'm kiss'in up) Thanks for the answer, and a great site! Semper Fi!! and Semper Fi to all, for being MARINES and keeping a great site number 1!!

We respect all opinions.........If the topic gets too heated, we try to cool it down or request that it be taken to PM and/or e-mail.......Thank you for not mentioning that other site.;) We(the moderators and webmaster) try our best to make this site a Great Home for Marines. You and the other Marines make this site what is is, we just guide you a little..........LOL.........Remember, we are a team and there is no I in our Beloved Corps.......We are glad that you are Happy here.......I'm Proud to call You Brother, fellow Marine and do hope someday we can become good friends........

Sempers,

Roger

thedrifter, thanks for taking the time with me! I don't tend to whine very much, but yesterday they got me so fired up, I stayed off the net till this morning! Don't want to be around anyone in that frame of mind! This site is a very good place for Marines and I am proud to be a part of it! Thanks for keeping me pointed in the right direction! Semper Fi to all! :) :)

Devildog4ever, and others...

Just a comment from the outside, looking in.

This is a MARINE site. Put together by MARINES for MARINES and watched by MARINES . We are asked to conduct ourselves as MARINES , and in truth have very little influx of BS from non-MARINE types.

Like Marines, sometimes we have to take it 'outside the squadbay' (PM or E-mail), but that is rare. I have met several of the Moderators, and they ALL take this place very seriously. It HOME AWAY FROM HOME , and they try to keep it that way. I had the opportunity recently to tell SHAFFER (site owner and Adminstrator) that I feel I am a better Marine today, partly because of LEATHERNECK.COM

My personal thanks to ALL of you that keep this place going, and ALL of you that are Members for sharing YOUR pride with ME.

Devildog4ever, and others... Welcome Home. Make yourselves at home. But if you put your feet on the furniture, or leave the toilet seat up....... :) you'll get called on the carpet.

Sempers to all.

Terry

MarineMom9,

Discharges from boot camp are NEVER taken lightly. A drill instructor can request a medical evaluation should something develop or be observed.

On the other hand, in many instances...

It depends on how serious the situation is......

It is up to the Marine Corps to decide if he is fit to stay in/or be discharge....
I have a question about awards and my service records. I am currently a firefighter/paramedic and my MOS was 5711 NBC specialist. I recieved training that is directly related to Haz-Mat and WMD...

Go to the homepage of this site. Look for free DD-214 on the left side of the page. A downloadable SF-180 is available there. This form can be used to get a copy of your SRB. Follow the directions. Once you send it in, it takes awhile....

It might take a bit to find resources to respond to your other questions. I gotta remember where I saw resources for some of that stuff.....

Hopefully someone else will have an answer faster than I can find one.
