2 Mich. marines among 4 killed in Indiana crash

NEW CARLISLE, Ind. — State police say four Marines were killed when their car crossed the median on an icy Indiana Toll Road and was struck by a semitrailer.
Police say there was snow and ice on the road when the car crossed from the eastbound into the westbound lanes and crashed about 8:15 p.m. Sunday on the Toll Road near New Carlisle, about 10 miles west of South Bend.
State Police 1st Sgt. Keith Kopinski said the four victims were Marines based near Detroit. He did not know the name of their unit.
They were identified as 23-year-old Aaron F. Esposito of Novi, 20-year-old Kyle Sporleder of Sylvania, Ohio, 19-year-old Lauren Diefenthaler of Ypsilanti, and Rodney M. Echelbarger of Holland, Ohio, whose age was not available.
