Couple gets 5 years for bilking Pentagon

LOS ANGELES — A former Northrop Grumman employee and his wife have each been sentenced to nearly five years in federal prison for bilking the defense contractor and the Pentagon out of $2.5 million.
Michael Crabtree pleaded guilty earlier to conspiracy and money laundering and his wife Susan Crabtree pleaded guilty to wire fraud. A Los Angeles federal judge on Monday sentenced each to 57 months in prison.
U.S. District Judge Otis Wright also ordered them to pay restitution.
Michael Crabtree worked at Northrop Grumman’s El Segundo plant where he ordered material and supplies for the F-18 and F-35 fighter jet programs.
Before leaving his job early in 2007, he ordered $2.5 million worth of goods billed to a shell company set up by his wife.
