Ok really dumb question-

The hourglass on the AFRM is for 10yrs of satisfactory service, just like the SMCR for ever 3 years. Why is my anniversery date for the AFRM different than my SMCR?

Not a dumb question at all. The date is likely when you first checked into your unit and began to be officially reported 'on the rolls'.
