I have an "artificial" tree, if it represents the season how can it be fake? I just can't see cutting down a live tree just to put in the house for a month and then throw away. Plus artificial trees are reasonably priced, and they can be hard to tell from the real thing. Just my personal preference. Not putting anyone down for having a real tree. Merry Christmas. SF

Artifical. I have numerous pines in my yard that I also light up. I could never cut one down. No I'm not a tree hugger, but I do love my pines.

You never saw that seinfeld episiode? georges father makes up his own holiday and decides instead of a tree he will put up a 6 foot stainless steel pole. Then they have the "Airing of Greiveances" and the "Feats of Strength". Its too damn funny.

Artificial, 12 years old, too big and starting to shed like a real tree when putting it up. It is a great tree but it is time to get a new artificial tree after Christmas.

Putting up a real tree is fun. Put it up too early and it's all brown and shedding by the 25th. Then the mess when you got to toss it. Too much trouble.

Fake is the way to go.

Fake is the way to go.They make a plastic trash bag with a small hole in the bottom you can put over the tree stand and under the tree skirt that you pull up over the tree when you go to throw it out. Makes it a lot less of a hassle, but an "artificial" tree pays for itself after saving the price of buying a real tree several years. Actually an artificial tree costs less than a real one.

If you like the pine smell buy some pine scented candles, or airfreshener.

Remember Tales from the Olde Days where they actually put candles in the Christmas Trees? WTF? Whose bright idea was that?

Fake,,,, Same one for the last 25 years. The reason was to save money to buy more presents for the kids. It worked. 30 extra Christmas dollars every year since it paid for itself. Miss the smell, though.

And how did they keep from burning the house up every year?
Born in france, had real candles as a child. Christmas eve dad would put on tin candle holders for about an hour, and have a bucket of water handy. If you were careful, and they were placed just right, it could be done. Just a few, and closely watched. That's the way it was back then 70 years ago. That hour was the time for singing carols.

I like Christmas! I don't like the commercialism of this time of year. We usually put up an artificial tree and do the Christmas thing.

This year I am leaving on the 22nd and coming back in time to celebrate New Years.

I'll have a little 2' artificial tree and a few small gifts under the tree for my wife and I. We bought our granddaughter some gifts and she will get them early.

But each year I am getting more like like Grinch and Scrooge.

Your a, "MEAN ONE",Phantomblooper!

Not for the season and meaning/reason of Christmas but for the must haves and don't needs and the keeping ups.

But NOREMORSE you done well! I started back in July on my plans to leave and take a week of inebriated therapy!

If there is any pine smell this year in my house it will come from the freshener in the shiathouse!

And I don't like snow...I'm going south!

Anyone putting up one of those aluminum trees, circa the 1960s, complete with color wheel? My sister-in-law, who lives in Hawaii, has a vintage silver tree and the rotating color wheel. She puts it up every year. Some day I'll hopefully get a chance to see it in person.

Mine is a Charlie Brown (http://www.boingboing.net/2005/11/09/replica-of-charlie-b.html) Christmas tree.

It's about 10 inches tall and sits on the bar.

It has green stem looking thingys and one red ornament.

The bar generally fills up with presents.

( I can store the tree in one of the upstairs closets. )
