Marines earn NCO, Marine of the Quarter
Written by SGT. VITALIY RUSAVSKIY

Two Marines from Camp Pendleton were recognized as Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton’s Marine and Noncommissioned Officer of the Quarter.
Sgt. David E. Vogt III, legal chief assistant, MCB Camp Pendleton, and Lance Cpl. Isaac J. Dotson, correctional specialist, Brig Company, Security Battalion, received their awards during a ceremony, Nov. 18.

During the ceremony, Vogt and Dotson were awarded Navy Achievement Medals for their outstanding performance and leadership in the Corps.
The Marines were also given various gifts from representatives of Marine Corps Community Services and several other organizations.

“Dotson completes every task he is given, has outstanding leadership and is in direct supervision of about 20 prisoners,” said Gunnery Sgt. Matthew C. Fiske, operations chief, Brig Co., Security Bn.

Dotson strived to become Marine of the Quarter by doing everything to the best of his ability, he said. He has also volunteered for the funeral detail for the past two years.

“One of my goals is to pick up sergeant in my first enlistment,” said Dotson.

Both Marines are recognized for their hard working skills, performing above and beyond their peers.

In his unit, Vogt takes his position as a leader seriously by inspiring fellow Marines because of his loyalty and approachable character, said Master Sgt. Joelle M. Fant, staff judge advocate legal chief, MCB Camp Pendleton.

Vogt was recognized as both Marine, and NCO of the Quarter at his last duty station in Quantico, Va. At that duty station, he worked for Marine Forces Central Command, which deals with military court cases.

“Take the good and the bad from your leaders, always (be) one step ahead and continue to become better,” Vogt said of his approach toward achieving such a high level of performance.
