Surf City police investigating death of a Marine

Surf City police are investigating the death of Marine Sgt. Timothy Patterson, Marine and police officials said.
Patterson was found dead at Tiffany's Motel in Surf City on Wednesday, said Detective James Claxton of the Surf City Police Department. Police were notified and the officers found the body, Claxton said.
Patterson was a member of 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment at Camp Lejeune, according to 1st Lt. Evan Pettyjohn, a Marine spokesman.
Officers are still investigating the incident and are waiting on autopsy results to determine a cause of death, Claxton said.
