Sparkie....my first car was a 39' Ford sedan, 2 door! It had a flat-head V-8, and a La Salle, Lincoln tranny! It was HUGE! We'd go to the "Drive-In" movie, and pack four people in the trunk! Two cases of Schlitz beer, and a couple of "hoochie-mamma's!" It was painted primer grey, with a brown interior.......I was 17, at the time!! STILL in High School,,,,,Ardsley, N.Y. I paid $450.00, for that pile of ***t, but got a million laughs, and lost my virginity, in it!!! GOOD MEMORIES!!!!......SEMPER FI.....Doc Greek

My first car was a 1956 Chevy Belair 4 door post. Three on the tree. My dad paid $35 for it. Six Months later with 8 friends (no-one got hurt) in the car I rolled it in town in a guys front yard showing off. Totaled the car but, sold the engine for $50. That's a net profit of $15. Oooops forgot to mention the "failure to keep my vehicle under control" fine of $35. The point is, don't let him have a car load of friends. Teenagers tend to try to impress their friends. I was lucky no-one got hurt.

My first car was a 1958 ford four door with a 312 ci,three speed on the floor with only two forward gears and reverse(second was gone) and jacked up in the rear, single glass pac exhaust. Got my first ticket in that car, also got good gas mileagebut had to carry 5 gallons of water and a glove box full of radiator stop leak.you could see day light through the radiator tank.Paid a whole 35.00 dollars for that carand drove the dog sheet out of it.

Sparkie,
You never mentioned wether your sons' "new car" was stick or automatic. Just in case, I have downloaded a Ford recall that shows, on its list, 1993-1995 Ford Taurus SHO for you to see. You might wish to check into it.

Ford's recall of 3.6 million vehicles takes effect
Ford's recall of 3.6 million vehicles to fix faulty speed control deactivation switches begins today. The carmaker and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced the recall August 3 to alert owners that the switches could leak, overheat and cause fires under the hood.

The recall affects a number of models of cars and trucks built between 1992 and 2003 including the Town Car, Crown Victoria, Explorer and Grand Marquis, among others.

The switch is designed to turn off the cruise control when the driver steps on the brake. Even drivers who do not use the cruise control feature should have the part replaced.

Owner notification is slated to begin today and be completed by Sept. 19. In the notice, Ford advises owners of the trucks and sport utility vehicles to take their vehicle to a dealer immediately for installation of a replacement system.

Because there are not yet enough parts to repair all the cars, owners of those vehicles are being advised to go to the dealer immediately to have the switches disconnected. In October, when the replacement parts become available, car owners will be asked to return to the dealer for the repair.

A full list of the vehicles follows:

1993 Ford Bronco
