I thought of something today that I was curious to know. Just was curious as to how long all of our brothers here on leatherneck.com have been Marines. Basically from the day you pinned on the Eagle Globe and Anchor and earned the Title Marine. I earned the Title on Oct 5, 2001 as of Oct 5th of this year I have been a Marine for 7 years. Everyone else please post your "Time In Service". Semper Fi!

Ok DEP late summer of 1983 ,Graduated Parris Island 27 Apr 84.Attended ITS (SOI now)and went to my reserve unit ( K Co 3rd Btn 25th Mar 4th MarDiv).Tried to go active duty to the air wing could not I was in a critical carrer field .I got released to join the Air Force (mjhpgh ducks).Graduated Air Force BMT 8 Sep 86 (Homor Grad ) (what do you exspect from a Marine at AFBMT) .5 years Active AF then the AF Reserves till now .I will retire in 2021,I will have 38 years in by then .

1987 to 1991 4 years active 4 years inactive (official) still up for unofficial activity (or inactivity) to this day....
Bought back my time (by paying a little into retirement for those 4) and had 4 years added to my Forest Service(USDA) time for retirement purposes.
Ended up with 6 hours leave per pay period right off the bat as opposed to 4 for those without any prior federal service.
