Marine vets visit Mulherin Home

Members of the P.L. Wilson Detachment of the Marine Corps League brought Thanksgiving food Tuesday to the residents of the Mulherin Custodial Home on Halls Mill Road in Mobile, a spokesman said.
The visit marked the sixth straight year that the detachment brought Thanksgiving food to the home for developmentally challenged children and adults, said detachment spokesman Cal Walters. Members of the detachment also spent time interacting with the home's residents, Walters said.
The detachment comprises current and former Marines and those who support their efforts with a focus on the welfare of Marines and their families, Walters said.
"The Mulherin Home has become the detachment's focus for non-veteran related community involvement," he said.
The home was founded by Dr. Hugh Mulherin in 1952 and is licensed by the state of Alabama but receives no state or federal funding.
