McNerney collects cards for troops

Rep. Jerry McNerney, D-Pleasanton, announced Tuesday his second annual Holiday Cards for Our Troops program.
McNerney will collect cards and hand-deliver them to soldiers at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, to Marines at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., and to National Guard and Reserve soldiers at the Parks Reserve Forces Training Area in Dublin, a statement from his office said.
McNerney asks constituents to make or buy holiday cards, write messages of thanks inside and deliver them to his Stockton or Pleasanton offices by Dec. 10. Cards should be unaddressed and envelopes unsealed.
McNerney last year delivered more than 700 cards, according to a statement.
