Dennys, First Nationwide Restaurant Chain to Partner with Marines Toys for Tots Foundation
Wednesday November 19, 8:30 am ET

SPARTANBURG, S.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Denny’s, America’s largest full-service family restaurant chain, will partner with Toys for Tots this holiday season to spread cheer to children in need across America. This marks the first time in history that the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s organization has partnered with a nationwide restaurant chain to assist in its charitable projects on a national level.

“We understand and believe in the importance of giving back to the communities in which we do business,” said Nelson Marchioli, Chief Executive Officer and President of Denny’s. “It is a true honor for Denny’s to partner with Toys for Tots and help provide children who might otherwise be overlooked with joy during this holiday season. I would also like to thank our employees and guests since it is their dedication and generosity that makes all of this possible.”

The Denny’s Care $1 Ornament Holiday Program, which runs from November 17 to December 10, 2008 in nearly 1,000 participating Denny’s restaurants across the U.S., supports Toys for Tots’ mission of collecting donations for toys that are distributed to underprivileged children during the holidays. Denny’s guests have the opportunity to donate $1 by purchasing a Denny’s Care Ornament that will be hung on a holiday tree at the restaurant. With the purchase, the guest will receive a $1 Denny’s Care Dollar Coupon to be used during their next visit.

“We are grateful for Denny’s support and for their commitment to enable families of limited means to provide cheer and happiness for their children over the holidays,” said Bill Grein, Vice President for Marketing and Development for the Toys for Tots Foundation. “A nationwide restaurant partner will really enhance the amplitude and magnitude of our program and increase our ability to distribute gifts this season.”

Toys for Tots is a 61-year-old charitable program run by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve that provides holiday happiness and hope to disadvantaged children in over 655 communities nationwide. The organization offers these children recognition, confidence and a positive memory that will last them for a lifetime. Many of the gifts, including books, games and sporting equipment, make a significant contribution to the educational, social and recreational interests of these children.

Milwaukee, WI, November 18, 2008 - For the fifth consecutive year, Panera Bread is pitching in to help Marine Reservists with their "Toys For Tots" program. Local Marine Corps Reserve unit, Fox Company, Second Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, collects and distributes unwrapped new toys to bring needy children a message of hope during the holidays.

Panera Bread bakery-cafes in metro Milwaukee, Mt. Pleasant, Kenosha and Delavan are displaying Toys For Tots collection boxes from now through December 11. The boxes are available for guests to deposit toys they are donating to the program.

Toys can be dropped off at Panera Bread bakery-cafes anytime during normal business hours. The Toys For Tots program requests the donation of new, unwrapped toys so each item can be sorted by age and gender.

The toys donated at Panera Bread bakery cafes will be delivered to the Marine Corps Reserve Training Center in Milwaukee on December 11. Marine reservists and volunteers will sort the toys and take them to local social service agencies and charities. These organizations will then distribute the toys to poor families and needy children by Christmas Eve.
