Royal Marines send urgent message home: We want Sugar Puffs

A TEAM of elite soldiers have made a special request to help fuel their fight against the Taliban - Sugar Puffs.
Marines in Afghanistan have pleaded for fresh supplies of the children's breakfast cereal - fronted by the Honey Monster - after running out.
And a charity are now working hard to ensure their wish is granted.
Alasdair Sutherland raises cash to send parcels of goodies to the men of Scots-based 45 Commando.
He explained: "Sugary kids' cereal is not what you might expect these trained fighters to eat for breakfast but if it's what they want, we'll send it to them.
"The Marines don't want savoury breakfasts. They've run out of Sugar Puffs and they are finding it hard because all they can get is corn flakes.
"They have a sweet tooth and they are so active they need a lot of calories every day."
Hundreds of Royal Marine commandos started a six-month tour in Afghanistan last month.
Former soldier Alasdair, who set up the charity Parcels4Troops a year ago, found out about the popularity of the Sugar Puffs as he was preparing to send out the soldiers' festive packages.
A spokesman for Honey Monster Foods said last night: "We are absolutely delighted that our boys have chosen Sugar Puffs as their favourite cereal.
"They say an army marches on its stomach, so for our heroes out in Afghanistan and everywhere else in the world we are happy to help with this little reminder of home."
Alasdair, now a prison officer at Saughton, in Edinburgh, said: "I'm also sending out some streamers and other decorations to try and cheer them up at Christmas."
Soldiers have flooded the charity's website with messages of thanks.
One said: "It is good to know people at home are thinking about us. This gives us great morale."
