Thought I'd post this one, off of one of my other boards, the extremely rare Spanish American War period "pillbox" style hat. This is the type that would have been worn during the SpanAm war, PI Insurrection, Boxer rebellion, and the like. There aren't many of these around anymore.

Yeah, they were alot bigger and 'bolder' then.

No. It was a point of pride to wear that about by repeated polishing.

My old gunny, who had gold jump wings, had polished them so often that the rigger lines on the 'chute were totally gone, and it was a smooth surface.
