AF retiree sends hundreds of pizzas to vets

MAYWOOD, Ill. — Retired Air Force sergeant Mark Evans sent thousands of pizzas to the troops in Iraq. Now he’s bringing them to veterans at home.
Evans brought 500 pizzas to veterans hospitals in Maywood and Chicago on Monday to celebrate Veterans Day. In June, the Elk Grove Village man arranged for 2,000 pizzas to be frozen, packed in dry ice and shipped to the Middle East for the Fourth of July.
