Returning US Marines welcomed home in Alameda
Monday, November 10, 2008
(11-10) 05:21 PST Alameda, CA (AP) --
It was an emotional welcome home for more than 100 U.S. Marines who just finished a tour of duty in Iraq.
Buses transporting the Marines were escorted by an entourage of motorcyclists along Interstate 580 as the buses made their way to a reserve facility in Alameda Sunday.
When they arrived at the facility, the Marines were greeted with welcome signs and were treated to a barbecue hosted by friends and family members.
A group of Berkeley firefighters also showed up to welcome the Marines home.
