The first of four high-profile hazing and sexual assault cases from members of the elite antiterrorist 4th Marine Expeditionary Brigade was held privately in an unannounced special court-martial at Camp Lejeune last week, base officials confirmed Wednesday.
On May 21, Lance Cpl. Oliver C. Brady, 21, of Nixa, Mo., pleaded guilty to conspiracy, assault and housebreaking, but innocent to hazing, burglary and indecent assault, said 4th MEB spokesman Capt. Matt Morgan.
The government withdrew the charges of hazing, burglary and indecent assault, found Brady guilty of the other offenses and sentenced him to 110 days confinement, reduction in rank to private and forfeiture of $1,200 in salary based on a pre-trial agreement, Morgan said.
With time served in the brig since mid-February, Brady is scheduled to be released within the next three weeks.
Brady, from India Company, was one of four infantrymen from the 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, assigned to the 4th MEB. They were arrested and charged in connection with an alleged sexual assault Feb. 16 in a base barracks room.
