The Jarhead Jamboree Foundation gathers annually to celebrate the birthday of the U.S. Marine Corps. This year, the event is at El Adobe de Capistrano restaurant in San Juan Capistrano.

On November 10, 1775, Congress passed a resolution to establish the United States Marine Corps. Two-hundred-and-thirty-three years later, the Jarhead Jamboree Foundation will gather to celebrate that momentous occasion, as the group has done for almost a decade now. The celebration will be Friday, November 7 at El Adobe de Capistrano and JHJ openly invites all current and former Marines, their guests and other service men and women. “This event is open to all who support the Marine Corps and our veterans from all branches of the service,” said Deputy Thom Spratt of the OC Sheriff’s Department.

The evening kicks off at 1830 (6:30 p.m.) with a no-host bar and memorabilia displays. Following will be the reading of the Commandant’s Message, a guest speaker, cake-cutting ceremony and, of course, dinner. Upon adjournment, guests can journey over to Swallow’s Inn together to continue the celebration.

Dress is civilian attire/business dress (with miniature ribbons), and active-duty Marines are asked to dress in blues with ribbons.

Tickets are $40 each and $25 for active-duty Marines. RSVPs are required, call Thom Spratt at 949.422.1199 or visit http://members.cox.net/jarheadjamboree.

Also, JHJ asks servicemen and veterans to e-mail your favorite Marine Corps picture to jarheadjamboree@cox.net for them to be featured in the slide show.

JHJ is in association with the Marine Corp League, South Coast Detachment 022.
