Well, after spending a few months researching the web and being confused, I decided to call DFAS about my CRSC claim. The DON sent me an award letter saying that I was found to be 100% disabled, and at 100% service-connected. They said I should be receiving pay from DFAS within 60 days. What they didn't tell me was how much.
I was under the impression that I was going to get paid my retirement pay based on my disability rating. Wrong. CRSC is based on you time in service, which is very little for first-time enlistees.
As a Cpl with 2 1/2 years of service, at 100% disabled, I am going to be receiving $94/mo.
Nothing like being lead to believe that you are getting around $1000/mo to find you are getting $94. What a shocker.
So anyway, if you are a first-time enlistee, don't expect much from CRSC at all.
