Parades and other Memorial Day activities are being washed out across the state because of heavy rains. But one is going forward.

In Waterford, the parents of fallen Marine Kemaphoom Chanawongse are taking part in the parade.

The Waterford High School graduate was killed in action in Iraq.

Organizers of events across the state had expected higher turnouts because of the war in Iraq. But most are being called off.

The National Guard pulled plans to have two A-10 Warthogs fly across parade routes.

Spokesman Major John Whitford says after meeting with security advisers this morning, the plans were dampened.

Whitford says the National Guard had plans to participate in 140 events across the state, until the rains called them off.
