NEW BERN, N.C. (AP) -- More than two dozen Marines in an aircraft refueling squadron are back at their North Carolina base after an eight-month deployment to Afghanistan.

The Sun Journal of New Bern reported that the Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron-252 came back Sunday on a U.S. Airways flight to Coastal Carolina Regional Airport at New Bern.

The unit is based at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point in Havelock.

Families and a Marine band greeted the troops who had traveled two days straight to get home.

Sally Young of Havelock waited for her husband David, who has been deployed during half of their 28-year marriage. She said this deployment was the hardest for her.
