Hi there i'm a first time poster it looks like you have quite a community built up here. I hope you have the resources to help me out.
I live in the Boston area and I am in need of some kind of therapist with a military background. My brother is a marine, gulf vet, recon and is having difficulty with ptsd and substance abuse. Hi is also a firefighter and has expressed suffering ptsd to do with that. He has had a very hard few years. He is a father of 4 beautiful loving children, his wife is a breast cancer survivor (1 year cancer free!) and they recently were forced to sell there home to avoid losing it. This family of 6 is now living in a tiny basement apartment in our parents house.
It has recently affected him at work (fireman) when he asked for help. They do not have the resources I feel he needs to get the help he needs, he has a hard time relating to civilians. He joined the Corps at 17,
was in and out of trouble up to and since that time. I feel he needs some kind of therapy. He however wants to do it on his own. I would like to approach him with the information and tools to implement a (outpatient) program to help him through this.
I have overcome substance abuse myself. Several times in the last week he has approached me to talk about things. For the first time ever he has been honest about what drug he uses. I really would like this to be the end of his troubles.
I am hopeful that i can find a Marine who is practicing some kind of outpatient therapy in the Boston area. Please send me any information you feel would help.
Thank you for your time and your service
a loving little sister
PS this is the first time he has ever asked a family member for help
