YORBA LINDA – Police arrested two Marines on Sunday on suspicion of assaulting a 16-year-old boy that evening.

The 16-year-old male was walking home at 10:45 p.m. near the 5400 block of Avenida El Cid when a white pick-up truck pulled up to the boy, said Sgt. Bill Smyser of the Brea Police Department.

The victim told police more than one person got out of the car and "jumped" him, Smyser said. The victim had no injuries, Smyser said.

The victim's sister called police who spotted the pick up near the 23600 block of La Palma Avenue, Smyser said. Police detained the five people in the car, Smyser said.

The victim was driven by officers to La Palma Avenue where he visually identified Derek Reulas, a 19-year-old Marine from Yorba Linda, and Christopher Rockandre, 18 of Brea, also a Marine, as his alleged assaulters, Smyser said.

Both Reulas and Rockandre were arrested on suspicion of assault and misdemeanor assault. They were cited and released.

"We still don't know why the victim was walking out that late at night or why he was assaulted," Smyser said. "The relationship between the two we arrested and the victim is still unclear."
