Fleet Week celebration starts tomorrow

Fleet Week begins tomorrow and is scheduled to continue with a series of events through Oct. 18.
The festivities, which coincide annually with the Navy’s birthday, will include ship visits, a motorcycle event, a chili cook-off and car show, golf and fishing events and a 5K and 10K run and a half-marathon among others, a Navy news release says.
The events recognize the contributions made by sailors, Marines and Coast Guard personnel and are held in conjunction with local businesses and civic organizations, according to the Navy.
