Tutor.com Partners With the Marines
By SLJ Staff -- School Library Journal, 10/6/2008

The United States Marine Corps has signed a one-year contract to offer Marine families 24/7 access to Tutor.com’s Live Homework Help program through base libraries. Students of all ages, from K-12 and adults, can use the free service to connect to an expert tutor for help in math, science, social studies, and English.

More than 50,000 school age children and young adults live on Marine bases around the world, and live homework help will be available to them from base libraries or at home by visiting www.usmc-mccs.org.

“Tutor.com is proud to support the families of the men and women who are serving our country especially during a time of war when many parents are deployed and spending time away from their children,” says George Cigale, Tutor.com’s founder and CEO. “We hope that offering Live Homework Help will give parents peace of mind that their children have academic support whenever they need it and take away at least this stressful piece of family life, while making school work more fun for kids.”

Tutor.com works with more than 300 public library systems, including three state-wide programs that represent well over 1,800 public library locations across the country. Each school night, tutors assist more than 6,000 students in one-to-one sessions in a range of subjects.
