Lt. Col. North to address Marine ball

BRANSON, Mo. — Retired Marine Lt. Col. Oliver North will be the keynote speaker next month at a Marine Corps celebration in Branson.
North will speak on Nov. 10 at the 233rd Marine Corps Birthday Ball, which celebrates the founding of the Marines in 1775. The ball is part of Branson’s Veterans Homecoming festival, a weeklong event touted by organizers as the nation’s largest event honoring veterans.
North is a decorated Marine who first gained notoriety for his testimony during the Congressional hearings into the Iran-Contra investigation in the 1980s.
The Marines were founded on Nov. 10, 1775, at Tuns Tavern in Philadelphia as the colonies fought the Revolutionary War.
