The Marines Corps Logistics Base in Albany has declared October “Domestic Violence Awareness Month” on the base.

During a ceremony Wednesday afternoon, MCLB honored the Dougherty County District Attorney’s Office Victim Services Program and the Liberty House Women’s Domestic Violence Shelter for its work fighting domestic violence. Sybil Collins, Victim Services Program Director, says they see 100 to 150 domestic violence cases per month at the DA’s office.

She and MCLB Family Services Victim Advocate Jamie Hurst say prevention is the best way to fight domestic violence.
