Just watched the evening news(local) and they had a couple actresses campaigning at college campuses in NC for Obama.....my question is how can you have a political rally on a campus....... But a recruiter of no branch can show up in uniform and campaign for his/her cause?

I already know the answer...but thought this would make good discussion.

Beats me. I went to a private college where military recruiters weren't allowed for my first two years on campus. My junior year the administration removed the restrictions, & there were Marine recruiters & occasionally Army recruiters who came out to our union building. I honestly wasn't involved enough in the change to know how it came about (Or really, why the precedent existed in the first place.), but I was glad to see it changed. I know that College Republicans had taken up the cause, but their role in it was primarily over by the time I became active in the chapter.

I am currently doing PTAD as an Officer Selection Officer's Assistant, I have not encountered a university that has not allowed me on campus. I have been to several private and public schools.

If it is an art school the administrators just kind of look at you funny and say "You know, this is an art school?" "We don't have a problem with you coming here, just dont expect to have too much luck"...

Are you limited to schools in MD, or do you get into PA as well? I went to school in Gettysburg; I'm not sure what the current policies are regarding allowing recruiters on campus. It could have changed since I graduated, & I wouldn't even begin to know where to ask without calling the college directly.

Northern Maryland and Delaware. You can always ask your local OSO, he/she should have a good idea if they have been doing their job...

Because "liberal academia" isn't nearly as 'liberal' as they would like folks to believe.

"Scratch a liberal, and you'll find a fascist"

Eh, I'm not that concerned with it. Just wondered if it was in your sphere of influence, so to speak, & if you'd been up there. Gettysburg is a pretty small school, & not well known for turning out military types.

I believe there was a court case a few years ago that dictated that if a school accepts federal funding they must grant access to recruiters.

Regardless, you couldn't prevent a rally on campus due to the first amendment. Political speech is why we have the freedom of speech.

liberals give off that sweet acrid scent of entitlement, from there toyota prius, to theredesigner abercrombie and fitch clothing. anti war, anti soldier, flag burning, tree hugging, dirt worshippers. I loath the fact that they are allowed to live!! owed everthing work for nothing. they find us repugnant and unworthy of thier presence. but alas i will even defend them to the death. But they do need b@#@$ slapped some times. Semper Fi

Hey, there are designer-wearing, tree-hugging conservatives too. And we were ok with having recruiters at our colleges!
