ELKINS -- Sixteen combat wounded veterans from across the country got the chance to go to the Friends of Coal Bowl on Saturday. Not only did they get free tickets to the game, they also got a special police escort from Elkins all the way up I-79 to Morgantown.

For many of the soldiers, Saturday's WVU game was their first. But WV native Sgt. Ronald Frye has been a long time WVU fan and was excited to cheer on the Mountaineers once again.

Forrest Aurentz Was one of the organizer and he says that this is something he has always wanted to do. Aurentz and other organizers got tickets from many sources, including buying them offline.

The soldiers from both the Army and Marines were treated to an entire weekend away fromthe various hospitals they were in. They got to go white water rafting, golfing, and even took in some area theatre.

The soldiers says that they really appreciate every part of the weekend and love all the support from the public.
