I think I found that Army of One they always talk about. The other day on the way home from work, I got behind a Mexican that had a bumper sticker on his truck that said "YO SOY EL ARMY" (translation for all you non Spanish speaking folks "I AM THE ARMY"). First thought that went through my head was "THAT'S THE ARMY OF ONE THEY KEEP TALKING ABOUT?"

The only time I remember entering a DFAC in IPFU was the morning we got back from FTX when they allowed us to shower and change out of our BDU's. Of course, we got the living crap smoked out of us shortly afterwards for leaving the latrine a mess.

I'm really curious as to what size those are. I wear XL IPFU's and am nowhere near that guys size..................he's gotta be at 5 or 6 X.

Was home on leave a while back and my buddy is in the National Guard so I was hanging out with him for a day and he had to take a Humvee up to Camp Perry, Ohio and bring another one back down, so I got permission to ride up with him and I did. We drop off the vehicle and we were supposed to pick up another one and bring it back down well that vehicle wasnt there yet. So we had some time to kill and we were walking around Camp Perry and there was a National Guard unit up there training and they were doing a motivational run. Well all of a sudden I see this fat soldier woddling down the street just *****in and moanin and so I stop him and go is something wrong soldier he was considerably older than I and well out of shape. We got to talking and hes just *****in and moanin about how he was sent to the wrong spot to be a road guard. I asked him how old he was.....42 years old......I laughed and said "Have a good day PFC!" he was a ****in 42 yearold PFC! oh and he was gettin ready to deploy too!

In our PTSD classess that I'm taking at the VA yesterday a Army POS really made me glad I am a retired Marine....

PTSD sucks, the VA benefits section sucks, agreed....but overall the VA medical system has been decent to me.

This former Army guy just unloads and shows clear on the Social Worker talking to us about "triggers" etc. and he just kept going on, and on, and on about the screwed up system....she has nothing to do with it....finally he left.

I really felt bad for her...she was at least trying to help him and he just kept hammering her....I guess it must have made him feel good about himself to berate a middle aged woman.

SSGT....nothing new, I've had it happen too. Had a "Dust-Off" Army Medic in a Corpmen and Medic Group, that was HIGHLY intimidated by the three of us who served in the F.M.F during Viet Nam vacation! He is in a wheel chair, shot through the thigh in RVN, but was stationed in Saigon, and bragged about his "free time". He slept in an air cond. hooch, and ate real food in an air cond. chow hall....MUSTA' BEEN TOUGH...HUH???? At least he was honest about his tour.......SEMPER FI....DOC

I understood the guy in his rage/desperation, but it was misaimed at the Social Worker...she has nothing to do with the Benefits side of the house...at least the Medical side is trying to help...you can't be inducted into the classes if you don't score high enough on the intake interview to begin with...at least they're trying.

Hey Ellie, what is with the Army wearing their helmets around like it's a boonie?
Used to see it in the DFAC, guys (and gals) walking around in helmets for no reason.

Of course, it could be so that they don't get a concussion when they fall off their bike, because walking the mile and a half to the PX is just to long. :marine:

Army of ONE (Officers/Non Commissioned Officers/Enlisted) I liked be all you can be much better.

Army is going down the drains, my new privates coming in these days did not pass Basic Training they were pushed through. PT/Weight/Tape is being overlooked. They figure (Let their Company square them away.) Nothing really compares to the Marine Corps in less it is a Prestigious Army Base. 101st/82nd and so forth.

I am a Army Reservist.

That picture disgusts me. What even disgusts me more, is the Army will wait til his contract to be up, then they will punish him by not letting him reenlist. I would like to think that Marines would never let a fat body like that in their Corps. Army gets a final deployment out of me, then my contract is done.

Looking forward to see what the Marine Corps has to offer August 2010. My mind set now is being a Marine > Rank, Money, and Benefits. If a steady job doesn't come up I was thinking of going Active Duty, and try to get a Security Forces slot. Any info would be awesome just message me.

Until then Tikrit Iraq here I come.

Just a FYI. I am not trying to offend nor start anything with anybody. I swear every time I say I am in the Army I get flamed. I know I am not a Marine. I have many Marine friends, and I respect the hell out of you guys. I would like to one day even try to even join you and your beloved Marine Corps.

If that's what you're after, I suggest that you stay in the Army or go over to the Air Force. People joining the Marines for the easy life or benefits are joining for all the wrong reasons. Don't expect the Corps to be the 'good life', because it is the exact opposite. With our high standards and limited funding, the Corps is quite a challenge- but with challenge comes pride. I you are not joining for the challenge, save yourself the trouble by staying out of the Corps.

I don't care what branch of the service one is in. He or she is serving our great country. Ask the Marines, Sailors, the Army the Air Force and one Coast Guard man at KahSahn how much they loved the Air Force and there B-52's. Ask me and the 2ed. plt, Whiskey 3/12 how much we loved the Army at the end of Operation Starlight when the Army chopper pilots came in and landed and gave us some new jungle utility's and cartons of Marlboro's. Dame we were hurting. The Navy opened up there chow hall at 0100 after we came aboard after Starlight. How the Navy offered to come ashore and fight as Marines during Dio-Dow in Vietnam. I can go on for ever about our sister branches have helped on another. BTW I have a son in the Navy and a son in the Marines. I have a grandson who in one year will go in the Army. Oh one other thing Army officers were damn good to get Marines E-5 and below whiskey out of Freedom Hill PX in DaNang.
