OK, so, now that it is almost October, I am getting ready to sign my contract. Right now, I am set on Infantry, but depending on the answer to this question I may choose otherwise.
I understand I am able to choose which field I go to via contract, but do I get to choose which specific MOS I get within that field or is that based on the Need of the Corps?
I am sure there are other post like this, but I searched multiple things and found nothing of help.
For infantry you'll get to select 03XX. You'll find out your specific MOS after bootcamp when you're at SOI.

OK, howabout Engineering, would I be able to pick Combat Engineers? By the way, I don't mean to sound ignorant. I am just looking for information, no disrespect to the Marine Corps intended.

You can be contracted any 03xx job, depending on your scores. You need a high asvab for 0351 and 0341. I was a contract 0311 meaning thats the only mos I could get.
0351s (machine gunners) are typically big mothers, they have to be able to carry all those heavy guns. Meanwhile 0341s (motar) are generally marksmen qual'd and skinny. I'm not knocking any 03s, thats just the trend.
btw 0351s are crazy.

I just realized I had a brain fart while typing this I meant 0331 as machine gunner not 0351.

OK, so, just to clarify. I can pick my field, but my MOS is assigned to me based on my individual warrior skills.
The reason why I am bugging so much about this is that because I want to be a Combat Engineer 1371, it is something that has always caught my interest, but if I get put into Bulk Fuel Specialist or something I feal like I might become bored with my job.
The reason why I have my mind set now on Infantry is because in all honesty, I just want to be a Marine, and Infantry, as a field, interest me the most, so, why not go infantry?
