Sexual assault task force visits Lejeune

CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. — A Defense Department Task Force on Sexual Assault will stop at Camp Lejeune this week as it studies sexual assault trends in the military.
The task force will be at Camp Lejeune now through Sept. 19. The task force will hold focus groups and meet with victims or witnesses of past sexual assaults not under investigation. Base officials said Marines should contact their chain of command to participate in the focus groups.
The task force will determine whether sexual assault cases reflect the actual number of assaults happening. Information gathered during the assessment may be included in a 2009 report to Congress.
