Have any of you other wannabes/poolees been lucky enough to see this DVD? It's probably one of my favorite, as far as what my recruiter's shown me in the office. We actually had this potential poolee come in with his mom during a part where the DI's were uh.. well, doing their best to motivate a recruit... pretty funny stuff. Although she didn't think so.
Anyway, I found a clip of "The Best of..." on youtube. Hope this isn't inappropriate to post. I actually felt pretty motivated to go PT and learn as much as I can about the Marine Corps' history after watching this..

Part 1 is on Youtube as well, does this site have the rest of the movie? Didn't see any continuation on the page that came up.
I think you people pick on the Sgts and above, we can't help that we have to yell alot and lose it. Weather in Boot Camp or the Fleet we can't help but getting in some faces sometimes. It is only to make it clear to some THAT CAN'T HEAR GOOD UNDER FLIPPING STAND ???? To us Sgts and above we have earned the right to go off on some rocks and retards, to get our point across LOLOLOLOLOLOL.

I saw it! Great dvd and worth buying! My favorite part is when the recruit "needs" to make a head call haha

I have to say it- a search would have brought up several threads about the movie- probably all of this could have been said there.
I wanted to see it really bad so I bought it on Amazon.com and overnighted it to my house. I have watched it like 3 or 4 times now.

All of them are on that site I posted.
My apologies for bringing up an old topic. I just didn't know how popular the movie was, thought I'd share it if some of the other new wannabes/poolees didn't know about it. I'll do my best to avoid cluttering the forum with repetitive material in the future.
Thanks for the site with the full length version. Good stuff.

It's called SEARCH!

Is anyone aware of any retail stores that might carry this DVD? I've been looking for quite awhile, this and the CBS one "The Marines".
I'm not sure about E,O.E,C - but I don't think the other one is out in stores. My dad recorded it on the cable box or something, but I haven't been able to find it anywhere as a hard copy. I would probably ask a recruiter or something. That's what I plan on doing anyway.

I have seen the movie and I think really cool. Especially in the beginning the Drill Instructors are like the energizer bunnies running around the squad bay knocking down racks. Can't wait to be there some day!
Where can you get a hard copy of it? I feel like it wouldn't be laying around in the Music/Movie section of Barnes and Noble or anything. I wouldn't know where to begin to look.

Can't really order stuff off the net right now, thanks for the heads up though. I'll get it at some point. Hell, maybe just download it with bittorents :P
I remember thinking that was so cool too.
Then I did the real deal and...well...its not lol
Boot camp is not about getting yelled at, not at all. Its about being stressed out and hurry hurry hurry every waking second of the day, and not breaking.

That's what I've been hearing lately. I'm sure I'll be singing a MUCH different tune when I'm in one of these guys' position and having a bed I just put together broken to pieces again... and maybe again, 'cause of course I didn't do it right or quickly enough. Ha. I'm sure it's all worth it.

Poolees I'm being completely serious, Full Metal Jacket is still to this day the most realstic portrayal of USMC boot camp.
I never saw a recruit get thumped on EOEC...never saw a blanket party either.
I've been waiting for the Marines here to say what L/Cpl Acped said. I went through PI in 1975 and EOEC wasn't even close. The worst word I heard was Hell. If you youngs-uns are buying into this sanitized version you are truely in for some serious culture shock. Full Metal Jacket will always be the most realistic portrayal, at least from my time. Ah the memories of ammonia showers and nearly passing out with a tie stuffed down my throat.

Is Full Metal Jacket a acuall movie? If so where can I get it, on ebay or at blockbuster mabye?
Yes, Full Metal Jacket is an actual movie. A really great movie I might add. Stanley Kubrick is the director. You can pick it up at most places that sell dvd's, I even think Wal-Mart carries it.

My wal-mart carries it, the EOEC website sells it and Amazon.com has it. BUY IT or rent it. R Lee Ermey is awesome in it and portrayed a character so close to my Army BCT Top it's scary.

What would be the fun in going to Boot Camp if they showed you everything on film? :scared:
I love Jokers warface and when he slaps Gomer Pyle so hard his cover goes flying.

Exactly, that is just like boot camp. Choking, thumping, the whole "Sir yes sir" all discoordinated and weak. Even that weak though, after he hits Joker if it was real life the DI would be on his hands and knees hitting him on the bridge of his nose with the cover screaming crazy obscenities while the two other DIs came over and "tripped" on the recruit...
However even in 2nd phase you will be AYE SIR as loud as you can....and they will still be saying Oh you don't wanna scream? I see....U-turn left right now!
AYE SIR
You STILL dont wanna scream? U-Turn left right now!
AYE SIR
U TURN LEFT RIGHT NOW....
But I'm ruining it....

Uhhh...what?!?! I've seen the Army's basic training, and it ain't NOTHING like that!!!
Did you go through in the 40s or something?
I was startled to see how similar boot camp was to FMJ. I don't want to ruin any surprises either. But the 'games' you play can get 'really weird' pretty fast. And let me just say real fast that maybe I might have seen that choking scene played out for real... *cough*

While you're at Blockbuster, pick up Heartbreak Ridge also. It's a movie, 'nuff said about that, but overall it's close to day to day life. Full Metal Jacket is great!!! Get the F offa my obstacle!!!! Makes me want to go PT.
