I found mine under the house last summer and it is a real eye opener. 2105 oct 87- early88 I realized I still dont like some of those guys. Especially the fat bodies with the high voices and soft faces. I know forgiveness is the way. I bet there are some of those guys who dont like me still either.

If by "fat bodies" you mean overweight I was one of those and spent a extra 4 weeks in boot camp so I won't reply with any other comments

To scan the books I would have to open them wide and lay them flat, with the age of most of these books I would be afraid to damage them.

Anywhere and everywhere, Ebay is a good place, I found a lot of mine at used book stores and thift stores. As you can see it isn't easy, I have been looking got mine for over 25 years, I found a bunch of others but not mine. That's why I listed what I have in hope to help someone else find theirs.

Well, I suppose I'm going to have to reconsider or think about this for a bit. I'm getting old, had my "15 minutes of fame", so if my sharing would/could help someone else or another family - - why not?

My old squadron, VMF(AW)314, published a journal (for the lack of a better word) of our deployment to Ping Tung in 1958. When I found out Gary Powers, Jr.(son of Gary Powers, Sr. of U2 fame) had donated considerable funds toward the building of the Cold War Museum, I had a professional copy of my book made to donate to the cause. Little did I know at the time it would destroy the bindings. I still have the book, but I really have to be careful with it. It literally is falling apart. (Printing and binding in the Far East was "on the cheap" at that time)

Gonna go check out **********.

You van have your binder replaced by a book binder check yellow pages or google for nearest location. I still have mine from 1958 Plt 3016 Tech Sgt Luty was my senior DI, Sgt. wilson and Sgt halland were junior DI

I have my book from Plt. 138, MCRDSD, Feb. 1956 to May/June 1956. Question I have is how can one scan some pics without destroying the book's bindings? There are some good "history" photos I'd like to share in dis place, but I don't want to hurt the book.

or just stay with leatherneck.....was contacted a little time back by a Marine that went threw bootcamp woth me...sent lots of pics from his graduation book.....we had a house fire back in the late 70s and lost everything...along with pics uniforme ect....was happy to get them...although i couldnt remember most the names the faces were well etched in me little brain.....fdk87to91...i have nothing but the greatest respect for my bros that went in over weight...they had to give up over half their food to the skinnys...work almost twice as hard as us in better shape...and that they did...most without complante...something im not sure i could have done....

I still have mine and it is falling apart. The glue or whatever that holds the pages together seems to be fair but the front and back hard covers have come off. I'm from MCRD San Diego, 1960 Plt 165. GnySgt Bob Hoover as Platoon Commander, S/Sgt A. Woodard as JDI. Semper Fi!!!

well just got my yearbook in today and gee I sure look funny about 100 plus pounds lighter then. scary

You must be 2 or 3 feet taller then, right? Haha, just fucin' with ya! I bought 2 "yearbooks" when I gradutated, and gave my folks one of 'em. Now they're both gone (the folks, that is), and I am in the unique position of having TWO MCRD "yearbooks." When I got the book my Dad had, it had an 8X10 of the recruit photo in boot camp with the phony Dress Blues smock that we all got our picture in, boy, talk about scary! I almost didn't recognicize the rosy-cheeked kid in the photo! BTW, the yearbook is for Platoon 1073, MCRDSD, 6/'75-9/'75, if anyone wants pics scanned from it.

I did basic at MCRD PI arrived there Aug. 4, 1964 started in 3rd Bn. however due to injury while on the rifle range I lost a week and got move into 1st Bn to finish. Its been so many years and I have lost my grad book as well as forgot the platoon number. If anyone knows the platoon numbers graduating from PI in Nov 1964 please advise.

The hardest Platoon book to fine from Paris Island 1969 Feb-April is Platoon 235, DI was Staff Sgt Carter. Most of the men in this platoon went to Nam and most were in Quang Nam Prov, some were with me on Hill 37 and many were killed. I heard from another that only seven of us were left from this platoon before I left the Nam. I have been looking for this book for 39 years with no luck, those who do fine theirs hang on to them.

Thanks for that link. June 1953 ended with Pl 139 and nobody has any listings for July which is when he graduated boot camp.

My graduation book from Parris Island was damaged in a flood and all the pages are stuck together. I have consulted with one book restorer who could not offer much hope. I graduated in 1971 from Platoon 383. It seems San Diego books are easier to get than Parris Island. I am also looking for photos of ITR in Camp Geiger for the same time period. Can anyone help me out.

I have tried the Historcial Services On the base and they have no books or pictures of anyone in this Plt or graudating series. send them from old platoon books. Both Coast MCRD's

As for copying, try either a Hand Scanner , or a high picsell digital camera.

My son, Joshua C Greer graduated boot camp from Parris Island, SC in February 1997. At the time we were unable to purchase his graduation book, but I would love to find one for him now. He was in 3rd Battalion, but I am not sure what company or platoon.....I do know it was the last platoon for Staff Sargent Ramsey before he changed duty stations. Also, there was Sargent Muniz and Sargent Timmer. Any assistance you could provide in helping me to obtain this book would be greatly appreciated.

I have connections now on both sides of the cost and besides P.I. & S.D. I have other venders who will sell there books. I of coarse am not selling mine. My dad lost all of his Marine Corp stuff in a fire before I was born. His birthday is coming up, and I would really love to get his platoon yearbook for him. His name is Luther Bradshaw (everyone called him Luke), and he graduated from Parris Island in December of 1969, Platoon 3067, I think.

My fiance has been trying to find his graduation book from Aug 1991 - Oct 1991, Platoon 1101, Parris Island, SC. Unfortunately, over the years, it has been misplaced. I have been looking everywhere for it and would love to put the smile on his face. Read the posts in this thread. There is an address that you can get any graduation book from SD all the way back to the 30's.

My father passed away in March of 2009. I have had all of his possessions stored in my attic. I have just now been able to stomach going through them without getting emotional. I found his Marine Corps book. I did not see the list I quickly skimmed here on this website. It's the Platoon 386 and looks like he graduated Oct. 5th 1959. That is what he wrote in the back of the book. The time he entered and the end date of what I just mentioned. Does anyone know someone that is looking for this book? I would love to see someone get some happiness from the pictures. Please understand I'm not ready to give it up, but I can definitely make copies or help someone out. I can scan pages without damaging the book more. I almost forgot to mention... He graduated in Parris Island, South Carolina. Please feel free to email me if I can help you. I was in boot camp in 68 and have my book, I never had a problem scanning pictures from it.. just be careful opening it... if you start to hear crackling..... OOPS..:p

I Graduated from Platoon 386 on 27 AUG 68. SDI was SSgt Magana and ADIs were SSgts Webb and Yeager. Am still searching for my platoon book. email me at roman.milanowicz@gmail.com if you can help.

I graduated in 1988 from Parris Island. 1080 Series PLT 1082, arrived on the footprints on 7-28-88 and graduated on 10-19-1988. I was victim of a flood in 1999 when the hurricanes Dennis, Floyd, and Irene sent the Waccamaw river chest deep in my house. I no longer have any of my Marine Pics, nor my yearbook. Would like to know if anyone out there has it, and if so, I would like to get a copy. Thanks. Carl
