20-year-old Marine from Hatfield dies in Bahrain

A Montgomery County Marine died in Bahrain on Sunday, the Department of Defense announced yesterday.

Lance Cpl. Travis M. Stottlemyer, 20, of Hatfield, died as a result of a nonhostile incident in Manama, the department said. The Marines would not release any further information on his death, saying it was under investigation.

Stottlemyer, in Bahrain as part of the U.S. operation in Iraq, was assigned to the Third Fleet Antiterrorism Security Team Company in Norfolk, Va., according to a news release from the Marines.

CAMP LEJEUNE - The military is investigating the death of a Marine who was assigned to a Virginia-based port security unit that is part of the 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune.

The Marine Corps said Wednesday that 20-year-old Lance Cpl. Travis M. Stottlemyer of Hatfield, Pa., died Sunday in a non-hostile incident in Manama, Bahrain.

Stottlemyer was a member of the 3rd Fleet Anti-terrorism Security Team Company, Marine Corps Security Force Regiment, which is based in Norfolk, Va.

A Camp Lejeune spokesman said Stottlemyer joined the Marines in October 2006.
