Guideon Questions

Hello. I was had a few questions about the guideon, since we are adding one to our Sea Cadet unit and we abide by the USMC Drill and Ceremonies manual. I already checked in there but could find nothing pertaining to my questions. So here they are,

1. What length should the guideon staff be?

2. Should the Spear Point and the Ferrule be brass or chrome or does it not matter.

3. Is the certain sized flag supposed to go to a certain sized staff? So would a 4x6 foot flag have to be on say a 8 foot staff?

This doesn't mention the length of the staff but it is the same length as the one we use to carry the colors. The metal on the staff is chrome.

The local Young Marines units aren't very good. My Sea Cadet unit has a former Marine officer as its commanding officer and the whole staff is made up of Active or Retired Marines or Naval Personnel.
