Reservists get high threat convoy training

The Associated Press

Reservists are wrapping up training at Camp Lejeune in convoy operations in a hostile environment before deploying to train military forces in South America.

The new Marine Corps Training and Advisory Group said the training by the contractor Poseidon Operations will end Wednesday. Staff Sgt. Jose Garcia said that since Monday, about 30 Marines and sailors have been trained in day and night convoy operations, including use of night vision goggles.

Training includes driving while under fire, carrying a wounded person from a vehicle and high speed driving techniques including skids.

The command said the training employs scenarios found on previous deployments and tests the Marines' ability to make decision under stress.
