First off, let me just give every Marine on this site all the credit in the world for the PT you do on a regular basis. You guys are beasts, seriously.

I recently started working out with my fellow Poolees, and a couple of formerly enlisted members who are looking at getting back in, five to six days a week. We have been lucky enough to have these Marines push us and show us what we really need to be able to do before we even get to boot camp. I had no idea how out of shape I was by the Corps' standards!! Fortunately though, I'm getting kicked into the right shape by all the right people. They're also teaching us how to march, stand in position properly, how to address DI's etc. which if you aren't learning, I would highly recommend getting on top of all that and everything else you can before you ship out. There's a lot of attention to detail I had overlooked before going to these intense workouts.

My question is, has everybody else been doing group workouts with their recruiters and fellow poolees? How is it going for you?

I know I hated it the first three days. But it's good stuff and if you're having trouble losing weight - don't skip these regular workouts! They've been cutting the fat for me like nothing else. My diet has hardly changed and already I've dropped about five pounds in the first two weeks.

Hope everyone else is getting it in as well.

We have been running 3 times a week for the people who want to get into better shape or lose weight. We also have been learning different tricks to bootcamp like rope climbing, different monkey bars, and some of the excercises that you have to do. We learn how to march and what not at our pool functions so we have been working on the. We also have what they call leadership classes, but really its just where my recruiter gets his poolees and quizzes us on different things in the welcome aboard package.

Sounds like you have a good recruiter and some other good Marines helping you out. Stay motivated youll get better at PT before you know it.

I am joining the DEP in about 4 months. For now I workout all by my lonesome self.

I wish I could. but the nearest recruiting office is 35 miles away, and all they have is a pull-up bar there.

That is a long distance, but it doesnt matter that all they have is a pull up bar. Thats all my recruiter has as well. I dont know if you were expecting a full out gym in his office or what haha.

We go to the YMCA, and do stuff outside and sometimes go in and do weights.

My RSS is at the local mall.
Pullup bar in the back, plus a few 20lb. Medicine balls. That's all the equipment.
Train outside the mall. 1.5 mile = 1 lap.
The best training machine to get in shape is your body.

ROFL@ poolees saying "All they have is a pullup bar"

You will be pushed to your limits in the strangest places at boot.....showers, laundry rooms....big gear lockers....haha

Poolees you all are going to do well. As to the equipment used you would not believe how heavy a M-16 Rifle is till you hold it straight out from your sides with it on the backs of your hands and Do Not Drop It!!!! Believe me you will get a life time of exercise in a 4x6 area with no equipment. Just stay focused and Remember why you are there.
