Do you get your signing bonus the moment you enlist (if you're on a 1 year delay) or when you actually go to boot camp? I only ask because if you get it when you sign the contract and have that extra year, I'd probably get LASEK eye surgery before heading to boot. thank you

Nope....you go to boot camp...become a Marine....go to MOS school....graduate...then you get a bonus if you were contracted for one.

Do a search on Lasik Surgery in the Poolee Forum or Ask A Marine before you proceed!:evilgrin:

Way back when (HAHAHAHAHA!) - you had to either be all the way through your training (Boot Camp, MOS schools) or have 6 months OJT and then it's TAXED.

Thanks for the info everyone. That answers my question. I did a search on Lasik and it seems to be a problem ... I guess its a moot point now though anyway since I wouldn't be able to afford it without the enlistment bonus. (Just a note- I was considering Lasek, which is done without creating a flap unlike Lasik which involves cutting a flap). davblay, I'll check out those links right now.
